Video transcript
We really believe that play is the foundation for people choosing to love and enjoy being physically active for their whole lives.
So when kids play they actually discover how they learn through movement, and they discover the joy of being physically active, and they discover what that joy actually brings to their life holistically.
So play is just absolutely crucial, and we just need to make sure that we as adults enjoy and allow the opportunity to enable kids to take ownership of play themselves.
At Sport New Zealand we're really working around the concept of not just ensuring that people are physically active, but ensuring that they're physically literate.
And in that we mean they've got the skills the competencies and the attitudes that really mean that they're going to love and enjoy being physically active for life.
Because when you really love and have a connection to something you're going to choose it and it's just going to become part of your life and it's just so vitally important.
It’s going to add such value to your life in such a holistic way.
