Rural Travel Fund
Rural Travel Fund
The Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund is designed to help subsidise travel for rural junior teams aged between 5-18 years, removing the barrier of travel cost so they can compete in regular sporting competition. The fund is administered on behalf of Sport NZ by 35 eligible Territorial Authorities across Aotearoa.
Who is eligible?
The fund is available to rural sport club teams or rural school club teams within the participating Territorial Authority (TA) regions who are competing in a regular local competition outside of school time. These teams must consist of members aged between 5 and 18 years.
The fund is not available to:
- Rural school or club teams located outside of the named TAs outlined below
- Individual players, coaches or officials
- Rural school or club teams competing in inter school or intra school competition during school time
How does it work?
The Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund is available to eligible teams or groups in the 35 Territorial Authorities outlined below. The TAs manage the application process and administer funding using the criteria above.
How to apply
If you are eligible for the fund, please contact your local participating TA to put forward your team or group to be considered for funding.
