Te Whetū Rehua
Te Whetū Rehua
The Guiding Star
A framework to help play, active recreation and sport providers consider how they might design or adapt activities to be culturally responsive to Māori.
Te Whetū Rehua is a framework based on five key values important for Māori cultural and social development.
The tool has been developed with Māori community sport and recreation providers, and supports Māori being able to participate as Māori, recognising that a strong and secure cultural identity helps facilitate access to wider society, as well as being vital to wellbeing as indigenous New Zealanders.
Evaluation
The 2021 Te Whetū Rehua Review Report was driven by the need to align with the He Oranga Poutama outcomes framework changes.
