Group Manager, Strategy, Policy and Investment
Julie joined Sport NZ in January 2012. As the Group Manager, Strategy, Policy and Corporate, she is responsible for providing organisational leadership across strategy development and futures thinking, policy development, ministerial servicing, risk management, financial management & reporting, organisational and HR development, information technology management, investment management across Sport NZ's investment portfolios, knowledge and information management, office management and procurement for Sport New Zealand (Sport NZ). The Business Unit also supports High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) through a shared services agreement.
Julie has worked at Sport NZ since January 2012, after more than six years at Te Puni Kokiri, where she held the position of Deputy Secretary, Support Services, and earlier Group Manager, Finance.
She is a chartered accountant with an auditing, finance and management background, predominantly within central government.
Julie has played both age-grade and senior representative netball for Hawke's Bay, Manawatu and Wellington. She now volunteers as the Manager of her daughters netball team.
She is a keen sport enthusiast who has participated in most sports, including playing social rugby for the infamous WASPs Club in London.
In her leisure time, Julie is an avid walker, currently training for the 2021 Oxfam Trailwalker (50km).
